Daguerreian Society
The Daguerreian Society brings together people from all over the world who are united by a common interest in the history of photography. Members include students and teachers, museum curators and scientists, collectors, dealers, historians, photographers and artists. The Daguerreian Society was formed in 1988 as a group "dedicated to the history, science, and art of the daguerreotype." Daguerreotypes -- the glittering, mirror-like images made by the world's first practical system of photography -- are only one part of what brings members together. Members of the Society are committed to increasing the world's understanding of early photography and its role in history.
